The Pau Casals Museum is located in the summerhouse that Pau Casals had built on the beach of Sant Salvador, in the municipality of El Vendrell. Your visit will allow you to discover the life and human legacy of one of the most important musicians of the 20th century and at the same time enjoy a unique heritage space.<\/p>\n

Located less than an hour from Barcelona and only twenty minutes from Tarragona, it has a magnificent neoclassical garden with sea views and shop and restaurant services. The museum offers a stable program of activities and exhibitions aimed at all audiences throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Declared by the Generalitat de Catalunya a Museum of National Interest due to its importance and the value of the set of goods it preserves, it presents an interactive, dynamic and participatory visit with a story that explains the figure of Pau Casals in all its dimensions as a musician, reinforcing the human and updated aspect of his legacy.<\/p>\n

The Deu Museum has one of the most important art collections in the country, with pieces dating from the 12th Century to the present day: carvings, rugs, basins, sculptures and paintings, precious metals, glass and ivory. Pau Casals (1876-1973) was and is one of the greatest cellists of all time. Beyond music, he became a tireless defender of peace and freedom of the people, in an era shaken by wars and oppression. The house where Pau Casals was born preserves the atmosphere of a house of a very humble family from the end of the 19th Century. On the ground floor of the house you can follow Pau Casals\u2019 childhood related to the town through photographs and two very significant musical instruments that marked the beginning of this maestro\u2019s career: the \u201ccarbasseta\u201d (a small cello made from a gourd) and the \u201cgralla\u201d (traditional Catalan double reed instrument). A staircase next to the narrow entrance door leads to the two floors that the Casals family occupied.<\/p>\n

The Tabaris Museum invites us to take a walk through the history of Coma-ruga and the municipality of el Vendrell. A museum that does not keep or conserve any collection, but shows a shared reality between Coma-ruga and the other centers of the municipality: Sant Salvador, el Franc\u00e0s, Sant Vicen\u00e7 de Calders and the town of el Vendrell. A feeling of belonging to a municipality open to the sea, with a natural, architectural and historical heritage that unites us, and with a future that we want to share.<\/p>\n
